Good impressions again! It was not 100% sure, can we execute all of the plans by the best possible way, when we were at the preparatory phase? Especially, if to think, how uncertain the conditions at the wetland areas at Saarema can be. Now we can breath again!

Most important work at Viidumäe site is finished. Ditches, affecting the hydrological regime of the springs and spring fens are closed! The total length of ditches at four sites refilled with soil, is nearly 2,5 km. Length of the amelioration system, disconnected and lost the function, is 6 km. The work will continue, more small ditces will be closed with weirs and regulators.

The project is implemented in close cooperation with the State Forest Management Centre. Project has initiated a forest removing work from 10 hectars area, what has a potential to restore the former spring-fen habitat. The project is presented in the Nature blog of the Forest Management Centre.
