The main activity of the project is rearing for fitness and stocking of sturgeon juveniles. The stocking material is brought from Mecklenburg-Vorpommern Aquaculture and Fisheries Research Center in Germany. Regarding the best methods and practices of sturgeon rearing and stocking, experiences will also be exchanged with Europe's leading sturgeon experts Jörn Gessner from the Leibnitz Institute and Gerd Arndt. We met Jörn Gessner, Gerd Arndt and Christin Hoehn, representatives of the project's strategic partners, at the Põlula Fish Farming Center, where together with Põlula experts Kunnar Klaas and Ene Saadre, a thorough discussion was held about the project's goals, ways to achieve them, future possibilities and developments. We also exchanged experiences with the German Fisheries Fund's project "Restoration of the Baltic Sea sturgeon population in the catchment area of the Odra River and in the coastal waters of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern".
